Facebook is a large and multifaceted social media site serving over 500 million users and 250 million users daily (How Many People Use 2013). 250 million of all Facebook users access the site through their mobile device (Facebook 2013)! That is a lot of people using Facebook on the go. This statistic provides an example of just how accessible social media is anywhere at any time.
In addition to serving many people Facebook also serves many purposes. The networking site is used to create groups of interest, connect family and friends, promote business, and much more. Facebook has recently implemented a program to help users become aware of amber alerts in their area. You can check that out, here.
With Facebook performing so many tasks, it is amazing that each and every user can be 100% protected from hacking and fraud. Among all other services the site provides, it is most important that they ensure the security of their users.
Each person who uses social media should be weary of the information they put on the Internet, who can see it, and how the site functions to protect them.
Facebook, in particular, uses “industry standard and proprietary network monitoring tools constantly running in [their] system in order to prevent security breaches and protect the security of your data” (Facebook Privacy Basics).
So, we can be at peace knowing that Facebook takes heavy caution in providing the strongest form of protection and privacy for it’s users.
